--------------WE THE PEOPLE---

WE THE PEOPLE, a majority of us anyway, voted to make Barack Obama: President Elect of the United States of America------and I have never been more proud to be an American!

WE THE PEOPLE did something so brave, so audacious, so hopeful that it is difficult to even talk about without tears streaming down my face.

WE THE PEOPLE proved that we really (and still) believe in the principles espoused by our forefathers since July 4, 1776 in the :

-----------------DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE---------------------

As a Lay Mission Helper here in Kisoro Uganda, for the last 21 months, I have had little access to either TV or the news, so I have missed the day to day politics (well, not really “missed” them-smile). But I did feel sad about missing the debates and thank Joseph from Holland for taping the 3rd and last debate for me to scrutinize.

I did not want to miss the elections--- so ask Waltraud and Dr. Damian if I might watch it from their home early the next am ( we are 8 to 10 hours ahead of the States). What I didn’t expect was to have so much company ; there were Ugandans, German, Dutch and English people all a hooting and a hollering, when it became official that Obama was the Americans choice. I, on the other hand, just sat there and wept saying “Thank you God” over and over again.

I had texted my friends that if Obama didn’t win, I was not returning to the States, I just couldn’t bear it. .But as fate would have it, guess I will be home (even if only for a visit) in about 18mo..

I found it astonishing that the outcome of this election was so important to so many all over the world, but after consideration, it really does make sense. Not only are we a superpower whose decisions effect the whole world but somehow ,on a personal level,, many felt “let down”, as if a beloved parent had shown itself to be a huge , and sometimes deadly) disappointment. The comment “America Is Back” was not just heard in my Ugandan living room, but in homes, bars, community centers and polling stations all over the world. Yes--------------- America is Back and I couldn’t be happier!

--------------------------------GOD BLESS AMERICA
===========================and
-----------------------GOD BLESS PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA

    Oh Marie.
    Isn't this just wonderful.
Did you see the scene in Grant Park in Chicago?....several hundred thousand, as far as you could see, huge jumbotrons carrying the news, as MSNBC announced that Barack will be the 44th President of the United States. Oh Marie.....people were crying, rejoicing, tears of joy, tears of joy; then they went to a glimpse of the students at Spellman, where a girl had just dropped to her knees, students were jumping up and down with excitment.
And then, Marie, when Barack and Michelle and their precious daughters came out on the stage. It was such a wonderful moment. Even Oprah was in the crowd, Jessie Jackson had tears flowing from his face. Louis and I were just beyond ourselves, so very happy for our country. He will be a great President. Michelle is such a super Mom, and Barack a good Dad. Michelle will be a great First Lady in D.C. The next morning, Barack took the girls to school.
We still get goose bumps just thinking about it all again.
    We are proud too, Marie.
We've been proud to be Americans, but this makes us even more proud. Barak is such a smart man, and you know Michelle is a grad of the Princeton. Barack and Joe will be a super President and Vice President for our country.
check out youtube...and see the crowds reactions yourself....

Grace and Peace to you, Marie and your ministry and to all those in your loving care,
We have so much to be grateful for every single day.
    Louis and Paul
